ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

Zuzzie Kapas is a San Diego-based interdisciplinary artist working across visual arts, dance performance, and the study of consciousness. Her creative process investigates the relationship between the body and nature, the aesthetic dimensions of creation, and the philosophical and metaphysical questions that shape human experience. Through this lens, her work explores the subtle, unseen layers of perception and embodiment.

Alongside her personal artistic inquiry, Zuzzie spent more than a decade facilitating spaces where people could come together to investigate these themes more deeply. Through movement as a medium, she curated environments for collective and psychological transformation that enriched her ongoing research. She contributed to numerous nature-based retreats as a co-organizer and eco-somatic facilitator.

Zuzzie’s work as an interdisciplinary artist is informed by her background in behavioral neuroscience and somatic psychotherapy. This foundation enriches the depth of her inquiry in the realms of experiential consciousness, movement research, and embodiment.

Zuzzie’s work often contains symbolism drawn from ancient and mystical traditions, which appear throughout both her visual art and dance performance.

In addition to her work as an artist, Zuzzie actively contributes her skills in business administration, project management, and community engagement. Her focus includes strengthening collaboration, expanding organizational reach, and elevating the visibility of emerging artists. Through this work, she helps shape the evolving landscape of San Diego’s arts and culture sector.

Zuzzie is passionate about cultivating alliances within the arts and culture sector. I know that nothing has ever been real

without my beholding it.

All becoming has needed me.

My looking ripens things

and they come toward me, to meet and be met.
